Bio:
Aanika Eragam is the 2021 Atlanta Youth Poet Laureate. Raised in Michigan, she has lived in metro Atlanta since 2018. Through her mother’s bedtime tales of South Indian mythology, Aanika was first exposed to storytelling as a way to connect with cultural heritage and explore history. Since then, she has written poetry and creative nonfiction about culture, family, and girlhood. She serves as the 2021 National Student Poet for the Southeast, the nation’s highest honor for youth poets. Her work has been recognized with awards from Bennington College, Susquehanna University, and the Georgia Council for the Arts.
