Bio:

Gordon Johnston is author of the poetry collections Where Here Is Hard to Say (forthcoming, Mercer University Press) and Scaring the Bears (Mercer University Press, 2021) and of the poetry chapbooks Durable Goods (Finishing Line, 2021) and Gravity’s Light Grip (Perkolator Press, 2007), and is co-author, with Matthew Jennings, of Ocmulgee National Monument: A Brief Guide with Field Notes (MUP 2017). His first fiction collection, Seven Islands of the Ocmulgee: River Stories, will be out from Mercer University Press in March, 2023. Johnston also collaborates with potter Roger Jamison to fire poems onto clay pages in Jamison’s anagama kiln in Juliette, Georgia. A former journalist with work in The Georgia ReviewSouthern Poetry ReviewCrazyhorseSusurrus and other journals, Johnston is Professor of English at Mercer University.
